Gun Cleaning
Keep Your Gun Clean
You don’t need expensive cleaning kits to clean a gun properly, a set of rods, bronze brush, plastic jag and some old rags, cotton buds and oil is sufficient.
· Remove the forend and barrels from the gun.
· Oil a piece of rag and attach it to the plastic jag and push it through the barrel a couple of times to clear the dirt and to oil the barrel.
· Pass a bronze brush on the end of a cleaning rod through each barrel tube, never pull it back out of the chamber end this will bring all the muck out and foul the ejectors.
· Wrap some clean rag or paper towel around a plastic jag and pass from the chamber end to the muzzle until the paper towel comes out clean.
· Push a lightly oiled wool mop once through each barrel or give a conservative spray of oil to each barrel to help preserve the barrels whilst the gun is in storage.
· Clean the inside and outside of the action, trigger and trigger guard with an oily rag. A cotton bud may also be useful for the tight spots.
· Wood work can be wiped clean with a damp cloth and then polished with stock oil.
REMMBER TO ALWAYS CHECK THAT YOU HAVE REMOVED ALL MOPS, BRUSHES AND RAGS FROM THE BARRELS
