This large ceramic whisky decanter is made by Pointers of London Ltd here in the UK. It stands 22cm tall and holds 1 litre or 10cl. The decanter is hexagonal and has two racing scenes that each cover two sides. It also has horse tack around the edge of the stopper and horse heads around the neck of the decanter. On the fifth side is the following text:- The Thoroughbred Racing Decanter There are ancient records of racing, even in the early years AD, and it has probably occurred since man first shackled the horse. During the 17th Century influential stallions were imported into England from the Middle East and selective breeding produced the thoroughbred. Indeed 3 of these great stallions are traceable in every thoroughbred thundering around the world today. Breeding is addictive, searching for that rare mixture of power, courage and speed. These qualities are honed to produce the ultimate performance by the trainer, along with his lads. The daily routine starts at dawn on the gallops and ends with an evening round of the stables, surrounded by the smell of hoof oil, clean leather and sweet hay. At last, the race day and the atmosphere has been captured here by the exciting young artist, Louise Mizen. The anticipation of the eagerly awaited start and then the moments when the jockeys show that special genius for making a race horse race and their noble mounts prove their historic and courageous spirit. The cheering crowd presses forward as the leaders stretch towards the post and then share the joy in the winners enclosure. All are part of this colourful drama known as the sport of kings.
