This large ceramic whisky decanter is made by Pointers of London Ltd here in the UK. It stands 22cm tall and holds 1 litre or 10cl. The decanter is hexagonal and has two shooting scenes that each cover two sides. On the fifth side is the following text:- The British Game Shooting Decanter The season opens with the glorious twelfth and the late summer festival of the red grouse on the moor, amidst the different shades of purple heather. The tension gathers along the line of guns as a covey appears on the skyline, holding for that split second when they will be in range. The pheasant shoot, where traditionally there is such camaradarie between guns, keeper, beaters and pickers-up, waiting on a stand alongside a copse, with the tapping noise of the beaters approaching. At last the sound of wings crashing against the branches and then the sight of a rising pheasant, curling, with the wind in its tail. The sudden spring start from the bushes, followed by the whisper-winged flight and a shout of "woodcock forward". The days enjoyment is increased by the companionship of a gun dog, apparently serene, but tense with anticipation. Hoping that the hard taught manners and training will be proven at the crucial moments. All the excitement of the sport has been captured here by the artist Roger McPhail, who is well know for his great ability to portray atmosphere and detail, and who is recognised as one of Britain's foremost field sports artists.
