This large ceramic whisky decanter is made by Pointers of London Ltd here in the UK. It stands 22cm tall and holds 1 litre or 10cl. The decanter is hexagonal, and has two fishing scenes that each cover two sides. It also has famous flies around the edge of the stopper, and British game fish around the neck of the decanter. On the fifth side is the following text:- The British Isles Fly Fishing Decanter How to explain the fascination of fly fishing? The wet winters days spent inside preparing and tying flies and making plans for the season ahead. At last the spring and the first stirrings of trout rising to the emergent insects and the early salmon in the deep chill waters. The finest bait, lure or fly is selected and presented with the utmost skill. Fishermen the world over know the satisfying pleasure of a good cast and the frustrations of snags and tangles. At last the sight of the silvery brightness of the fish in the blue water, and then the thrill as it is held, played and brought to hand. Be it standing , either by deep free-flowing rivers in the north or by southern chalk streams, or sitting in a boat in a loch, all fishermen have that similar look of concentration and anticipation. But then, as the old proverb says, there is more to fishing then merely catching fish. All the excitement of the sport has been captured here by artist, Roger Mc Phail, who is well know for his great ability to portray atmosphere and detail and who is recognised as one of the British Isles' foremost fishing and sporting artists.
